• 1878 – The high school population in Reno was growing, and school administrators felt lower classes should be separated from high school.

• 1879 - A new school was completed on the property between 4th and 5th street and between Arlington and West streets.  The school was named CENTRAL SCHOOL.  The high school occupied the upper floors, and the elementary classes (1-8 grades) were on the first floor.  Although the name was CENTRAL SCHOOL, it was sometimes referred to in newspaper articles as Reno High School. 

• 1910 – A fire in the chemistry lab destroyed the school’s main building.  CENTRAL SCHOOL was forced to close.

• 1911 – CENTRAL SCHOOL, renovated after the fire, was used for high school students only.

• 1912 – The Renovated school was named RENO HIGH SCHOOL and was used until 1951.
• 1949-1951 – Again, due to a growing high school population, a new high school was built.  The first graduating class was in 1952.  When built it was the most expensive public building in the State of Nevada.  

• 1995 – A plan was presented by educator and alumni, Bud Beasley to form an alumni association with a center to preserve the rich history of Reno’s high schools.  

• January 2000 – With the help of fellow alumni and community sponsors, the Reno High School Link Piazzo Alumni Center was completed.

• 2023 – RHSAA. The museum and alumni center tells the story of Reno before it was established as a city.  Our rich history from 1879 is on display to share with the community.
