Gertie
Get to know Gertie in her featured interview:
Lead Web Designer
Gertie likes to wake up to over-easy eggs with jalapeño peppers and Trader Joe's Cold Brew Concentrate, barely diluted. Shhh! Gertie has been building websites since the late 90s. She understands the importance of being able to zig when the Internet zags. She wakes up websites by organizing information in a way that forces viewers to engage with and remember the content. Wake-up moments: In my Junior year of high school I realized that I could get started on life early. Professors couldn't possibly know enough about this New Fangled Internet to teach about it. I got out of school and started building websites. I have to teach myself EVERY day to keep up with the web's pace! |
Larry
Business to Business Consultant
Larry likes to wake up to a pot of light roast coffee, freshly ground, black. That's right--a whole pot. Larry has worked as a motivational speaker, writer and radio host. He also has a background in real estate, lending, and sales management. Wake-up moments: Larry worked with banks during the 2008 crisis, to find and repair severe financial problems. This included working directly with customers to negotiate solutions to save their homes. Larry brings these skills to Waking Girl clients who may need creative ideas to survive the changing economy. |

I drink in the sunshine of another beautiful morning. No… I drink water when I wake up and practically every 40-60 minutes thereafter. My favorite (balanced) breakfast is huevos rancheros. I also fancy a plate of waffles drowning in syrup, strawberries, and cream cheese; but it’s an unrequited love. This Q&A is making me hungry.
I wake up websites by bringing superb attention to detail and quality customer care to the clients that need us. At this point in my life I’ve really learned to just point my toes downstream and Trust the River. I can’t hear a show/movie without subtitles, I enjoy a good rock concert (but have abstained from mosh pits now that I have - and sometimes bring - my little one), Proud that I’ve been sober since NYE 2018, my not-legally-married husband hit me up as a stranger with a FB DM. He shot his shot and he did not miss! |

I like to wake up with a fruity shot of espresso and two slices of whole grain toast with loads of butter. I usually follow this up with a spoonful of apple cider vinegar with a honey chaser and an enormous glass of water.
I wake up websites at Waking Girl by getting to know the businesses through customer testimonials, old posts, and company values. By doing this I am able to figure out what makes businesses shine and what aspects need a bit of polishing! I was about five months into Paralegal studies when I was struck with an urge to be creative. I knew that if I continued on this path, I would not be happy. After lots of thinking, I decided to take a chance on myself to do whatever makes me the happiest. I previously worked as a coffee roaster and continue to work part-time as a barista. I own 30 different kinds of plants! My perfect day would include a hike along the Oregon coast on a warm, clear day and eating lots of pasta on the beach. |
Franki
Illustratrator + Pinterested

At Waking Girl she audits sites on Maintenance Plans--clicking buttons to make sure everything is working. Franki converts engaged Facebook users to Fans. She also assists the Lead Designer in choosing colors, fonts and graphics for websites and Facebook posts. Wake-up moment: Franki gave her best friend an iPhone, realizing that she had the power to solve a communication problem! No adults needed. |
