Dear Weebly,
I switched to you many years ago because you allowed me to do MORE in LESS time. This allowed me to serve more clients, and you have allowed my business to grow dramatically. Now I am at a place where I rely on the speed of doing business with Weebly, but we are hitting a wall. With the recent upgrades and features over the last 3-6 months, the glitches and speed of Weebly has doubled my turnaround time. Yes, it now takes TWICE the amount of time as it did a year ago to add content, blog, or redesign a website. That doesn't seem right! I should be able to do this in my sleep now! And a lot of that time is spent hitting my head against a wall. I have never felt like such an idiot until I tried editing the CSS for the buttons in the latest templates. Do we really need smaller, larger, inner, outer options? Really? Does that really help the small business owner build their business? Does it help when the main CALL TO ACTION goes blank because the background #fff and the link #fff collide in a flurry of exasperation? I love that I can adjust fonts without touching the code, but unless these features WORK 100% (I would take 90%, but we're at 30%) of the time, it just becomes a wasted effort. The NUMBER ONE GLITCH is the Landing Page button. I set it to go to XYZ link, and hit publish. And it just takes me to a javascript;void call-out. I try it again. And again. I refresh. I clear the cookies. I go eat a cookie. And still NO DICE. The LATEST glitch is the conflicting EVERYTHING. One of my top reasons for switching to Weebly was the easy Embed HTML option. I could use all my favorite tools: Jotform, Schedule Once, Facebook feeds, and more. But now, as of the last 3 months, these codes don't play nice with Weebly. A basic Facebook feed no longer appears in the Weebly editor, so you have to guess at where that feed is, and constantly Publish to see if it's now in the right place. Now, when you PUBLISH, you may or may not see those items ANYWAY! They'll appear if you REFRESH, but upon FIRST LOAD, well, hell, my website might as well be a Vegas table game with these odds. And if you have more than one form on a given page, well now your chances of winning are really in the gutter. Sure I can update my website while I'm in the bathtub or at work putting out fires, but the customers of my clients can no longer hit the call to action, see the latest Facebook news, or fill out a Jotform registration form (with payment!). Weebly, I chose you because I thought you were on a fast growth path, and that you would always be one step ahead of me. I chose you because you focused on the important things. I am requesting your help on behalf of my 200+ Weebly websites. Figure out these features or drop them, and get back to what's really important: -speed -reliability -glitch-free bliss I'm ready to pull the trigger on moving to The Grid. Show me why I should stay. Sincerely, Waking Girl Web Design P.S. Why in God's beautiful name would we want our changes to appear BEFORE we hit PUBLISH?!?!??! WHAT is that?!?! The Weebly editor has become a volatile and hostile work environment. Thank golly-gee I'm surrounded by bubbles and candlelight. P.P.S. Can I please copy and paste my Blog Categories again? Please? |
